Security Supervisor
New Community Corporation (NCC) in Newark, New Jersey is one of the largest and most comprehensive community development organizations in the country; New Community’s success rests on its comprehensive approach to community development. The Security Supervisor will be responsible for promoting the NCC mission in all service delivery, ensuring quality, professionalism and efficiency of the services provided. Responsibilities for preserving the peace, reducing fear, providing for a safe environment, preserving human life, maintaining human rights, protecting property, providing individual responsibility and fulfill of NCC’s commitments to the community. The Security Supervisor will provide oversight in the supervision of their assigned shift.
Responsibilities:
- Determine with Security Operations Manager, staffing needs, work assignments, and the scheduling of security officers in accordance with class schedules, building occupancy, special events, and other activities at NCC.
- Produce Security Officer schedules to ensure daily posting needs are met. Relieve staff for breaks, as needed.
- Knowledge of all buildings’ post instruction requirements.
- Monitor performance and complete performance evaluations for staff and take corrective action as needed to correct deficient performance.
- Respond to security breaches, critical incidents and alarms. Respond appropriately, contact base, and coordinate NCC Security protocols with first responders during critical incidents.
- Maintain a shift log and write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Ensure direct reports are conducting hourly rounds, as appropriate, to ensure that building site and occupants have a safe environment.
- Conduct mobile post checks of personnel to ensure quality performance.
- Monitor, guide, train, and evaluate personnel assigned to Sergeant’s area of responsibility.
- Operate security vehicles; properly utilize personal equipment.
