Job Description:

The Nursing Home Admissions Marketer will establish and maintain the Unit's identified census goals, clinically evaluates all residents admitted to the Unit and formulate relationships with hospitals, insurance companies and other major referral sources.

 

SECTION 1 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Have knowledge of the functions and operations of the facility's nursing department and their capabilities to provide the client with the appropriate health care.
  • Provide on-site clinical evaluation of the referred resident with prompt communication to the referral source. Develop care plans and coordinate clinical evaluations.
  • Utilize regulatory agency guidelines and managed care concepts when reviewing clients for admission.
  • Perform on-site evaluations incorporating the following: 4.1 Contact with the Social Service Department
    • Develop positive working relationships.
    • Seek additional referrals.
    • Inform and educate of facility's availability and services
    • Review of the resident's Medical Record
    • Utilize Clinical Review Process as established by the facility.
    • Obtain financial and payment source information
    • Client visit
    • Identify reason for visit and the facility.
    • Counsel client and/or family concerning available services and suitability of client's admission.
    • Evaluate the client's degree of orientation and appropriateness of the therapy program.
    • Establish the degree of support systems that can be utilized for a comprehensive discharge plan, i.e. family, housing, care takers, etc.
    • Assess all client care needs including all equipment and number of nursing hours.
    • Professional contacts (physicians, case managers, therapist)
    • Identify facility services.
    • Discuss treatment plan and discharge goals of the referred client.

 

  • Provide to the DON a list of clients assessed needs which includes cost factors such as equipment, infusion therapy, extensive dressing, continuous oxygen therapy, supplemental feedings, etc.
  • Investigate and clearly define the insurance eligibility coverage as related to the level of care and length of stay.
  • Assist facility Admissions Director with issues related to insurance reimbursement.
  • Forecast the duration of stay and the practicality of an assured discharge.
  • Collaborate with the Unit Managers to make clinical determination on the nursing staff's ability to provide the required care of each resident admitted.
  • Finalize and secure all necessary admission documentation, i.e. contracts, financial statements, letters of acceptance of fees from insurance companies or any other provider source agreements.
  • When admission of client has been approved, inform nursing and other disciplines of the date of arrival.
  • Collaborate with the Unit Manager to organize and plan for special equipment and/or services which are required.
  • Provide in-service to referral sources, agencies, organizations and professionals in relation to services, facility policy and procedures and knowledge of payment systems.
  • Participate in marketing management by collecting and organizing data on all client referrals, admissions, denials and reason denied. Develop special marketing projects utilizing evaluations and surveys. Identify positive and/or negative trends and report to the Administrator.
  • Work as an interdisciplinary team member to keep staff informed of client's therapy, medical, dietary and psychosocial needs as part of the care planning process. Actively participate in monitoring the client's progress to determine continued insurance eligibility.

Experience and Skills:

 

  • Minimum of (1) one-year nursing home experience or marketing experience
  • NJ Practical Nurse Licensed from an accredited nursing school
  • At least two years’ experience in acute care and or rehabilitation setting
  • An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Must have a valid New Jersey driver license and own automobile.
  • Current, professional nursing license, valid in New Jersey.
  • IV. Certification/ BLS preferred.
  • Marketing and discharge planning experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of nursing departments operations helpful.
  • Language skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Bilingual {English / Spanish} preferred
  • Mathematical skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference,
  • Reasoning ability:ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions
