The Activity Assistant (AA) will be working in a Long Term Care/Sub Acute Facility. In this role the AA will be responsible for implementation and evaluation of therapeutic recreation services including but not limited to empowerment, maintenance, and supportive activities. The AA will uphold the philosophy, standards, objectives, and policies of the Department of Therapeutic Recreation.

  • To provide, implement, and evaluate daily therapeutic recreation services to residents of the facility including maintaining compliance of the company policies and the Department of Therapeutic Recreation.  
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationship with residents, families, personnel, and vendors.
  • Must be able to document in residents’ electronic medical record according to New Jersey Department of Health regulations.
  • Encourage residents to participate in activities by informing them of daily activities.
  • Escorting residents in a safe manner to and from daily activities.
  • Attend care planning as requested.
  • Attend and organize activities as needed.
  • Help feed and distribute snacks and food to residents.
  • Assist in store in assisting residents and other customers as requested.
  • Available to work evenings as requested.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.
  • Accepts supervision and direction as needed.
  • Works as a team player when interacting with other members of team.

Experience and Skills:

  • One (1) year prior experience working with seniors and disabled.
  • Ability to demonstrate patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward the elderly.
  • Evaluate and interpret information for decision making.
  • Ability to read and write English; follow oral and written directions.
  • Must have good communication skills and the ability to work as a team player.
  • Maintain established training, in-service, and other training as required by NCC or state regulations.
