Job Description:

Within the framework of the New Community Corporation’s Early Learning Centers’ Program’s purpose and philosophy, the substitute Teacher is responsible to provide age-appropriate educational programming daily to the assigned classrooms and provide a teaching model; observing and contributing to the evaluation of the children, in the absence of the lead teacher.

Responsibilities:

• Maintaining supportive working relationships with parents/guardians to enhance a warm exchange between program personnel and parents/guardians.
• Planning for smooth transitions of children’s entrance and withdrawal from center classrooms.
• Ordering new educational materials and supplies under the direction of the governing boards.
• Maintaining and updating children’s files with necessary information in order for files to be completed and accurate.
• Maintaining current records of educational supplies and equipment and keeping accurate inventory and records to ensure quality.

• Keeping educational equipment and materials accessible and good condition so as to encourage maximum use for teaching.
• Adhering to all DCP&P Licensing Requirements as required by law.
• Use songs, games, and teaching tools to prepare children for transition time such as mealtime, nap time, circle time, activities, going outside, bathroom, hand washing, departure etc. Use every opportunity to remind children of rules

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or a related field.
• NJ Substitute Teaching Certificate
