Job Description:
The Registered Nurse provides direct care and supervision of all nursing services to ensure that each resident’s needs are being met in accordance with their medical/nursing plan of care, which is based on a comprehensive assessment and in accordance with current nursing standards of practice, federal, state, local, and facility standards, regulations, and guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for insuring all initial and re-admission assessments are completed per facility policy.
- Reports any significant changes in resident’s condition to supervisor and /or Physician and formulate a plan of care.
- Ensures resident’s rights protocols are followed.
- Explain procedures and treatment to residents
- Adheres to all facility procedures and policies
- Ensure all infectious disease protocols are followed.
- Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of residents.
- Accepts delegation of medication administration and supervises C.N.A on assigned shift.
- Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of residents.
- Administers prescribed medication and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
- Responsible for narcotics counts according to state regulations and facility policy.
- Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal.
- Assists Physician as requested.
- Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities.
